An Interview With Carolyn Sue Morris

Tell us a bit about yourself. What would you like us to know about you?

I love to read and write. I started writing poetry at the age of twelve. I have recently published my first non-fiction book, "The Journey, The Dreams, & AnnaBelle". I am currently working on the manuscript for a follow-up to this work, titled "AnnaBelle". I have also written a series of Children's Picture Books titled "The Adventures Of Dusty Boy. I am working hard to find a publisher for this series. I would like to pursue a writing career in different fields of writing. Perhaps a column. I feel it is important to do the very best we can to help others, and speak for them if they are unable to do so themselves.

What are you doing now? (Career? Married? Single? Children? Pets?)

I have a very understanding husband, he tolerates my sitting at the computer for hours working on my books. We have two grown children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. We share our home with our two little Bichons, Dusty Boy and Weezer Girl. I am an avid dog lover, I believe in adopting pets from local shelters. I myself have adopted two. Weezer is adopted, and I adopted Dusty's mother there, she was pregnant at the time. She was a gift for our daughter for her birthday. I kept Dusty Boy, and we found good homes for the other 4 puppies. I would encourage everyone to check out theur shelter.

If you have published a book, tell us about your publishing success (title, publishing date and company, where it is available to purcahse).

"The Journey, The Dreams, & AnnaBelle, is my first published work. I published thourough Authorhouse because I could not find an agent or traditional publisher that would consider helping me. Authorhouse did a quality job with my book. It went live on-line March 6, 2009. It can be purchased through my website, www.authortree.com/carolynsdreambook or Authorhouse. It's also available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other on-line bookstores.

How long did it take you to write your book(s)?

Completing the first manuscript took about a year. I have been working on this second book about three months, it is almost complete. "The Adventures Of Dusty Boy" took about two weeks. It just came easily.

What would you do differently if you could repeat the same publishing experience?

My first work would have been longer. The biggest complaint of my reaers was that it was too short. That's is whty there is a follow-up, it completes the story.

What have you learned about the publishing world?

To be patient, yet constant. You have to be your own agent for the most part. Marketing is a challenge, but necessary. Learn to enjoy it all, and face it as you would any challenge. Make it fun.

This is your chance to 'Talk Back' to your readers. What would you like to say to them?

I want to thank them all for their support of my work. But most of all for enjoying the story I had to tell, and for the encouragment to continue.

What's the one thing that you want them to know about your writing?

That I write from my heart. As the poetry will attest to that spans 40 years of my life. I insert humor throughout my writing, it is the way I see things. There are times when we need to understand that we can never go back and change circumstanses, but we can change the way we look at them. Life is too short to live in past, we need to love the future.
