An Interview With Christie SilversTell us a bit about yourself. What would you like us to know about you? I'm just me--wife, mother, writer. I enjoy warm, spring days, going to the beach, and playing with my daughters. I've always enjoyed reading and writing, but it wasn't until 2006 that I dedicated myself to this craft. What are you doing now? (Career? Married? Single? Children? Pets?) Well, at this moment I am working on editing book two in my paranormal romance series, A Birth at Dawn. After that is done, I will begin writing the third book in the series. I also have three other book ideas in the works, so be on the lookout for many more to come. What is your favourite food? Hm, my favorite food? Well, I enjoy a good pizza, Chinese food, a nice Subway sandwich... ooohh, I love cheesecake and chocolate, also. What is your favourite colour? My favorite color is purple, with blue as the runner-up. What is your favourite sound? My favorite sound is the sound of ocean waves slapping against the sand. I also enjoy listening to my girls playing nicely together. I love the sound of a babbling baby. But none of that tops the sound of "I love you, Mommy" coming from the lips of my toddler. Who is your favourite person? My favorite person? Wow, that's a tough one. I have a lot of favorite people. My husband, my three daughters, my mom, my little sister and my friends. There's just no way I can choose just one favorite person. What is your favourite place? My favorite place is definitely the beach of Tybee Island, Georgia. My husband & I take our girls there every summer and we adore being there. It's so peaceful and relaxing. What is your favourite memory? My favorite memory is of my father. He passed away almost five years ago and I still miss him dearly. What is your favourite article of clothing? My favorite article of clothing changes from season to season. At the moment, I love wearing a red button-up dress shirt, black slacks, and knee-high black boots. During the summer there's this blue and white dress that's cut down to here and very lightweight. I love it! What is your favourite word? My favorite word to use in everyday conversation is FANTASTIC. I love when I have a reason to use it. What is your favourite writers' quote and why? My favorite quote is actually one of my own. It's my motto and I use it all the time... "Just me, my music, and the voices in my head." What is your most favourite quality about yourself? My favorite quality about myself would have to be that I'm pretty easy to get along with. I'm usually a happy person and I'm very friendly, as long as you're friendly with me. What is the least favourite quality about yourself? Well, I guess my least favorite quality about myself would be that I can't seem to ever stay away from the computer. I'm ALWAYS doing something. Take now for example, I am suppose to be watching a movie with the hubby, but instead I'm on the computer filling out this interview. Oh well, that's how it goes in this day and time. :-) If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why? The beach! I'd certainly be in the car on the road to the beach if I were able to. Yes, the beach is were I'd be. What inspires you to write and why? The stories screaming to be let out is what inspires me to write. As I always say, the characters tell me their stories, I'm just the vessel who writes them down. Just me, my music, and the voices in my head. Hahaha! What is your favourite book and why? My favorite book always has and always will be Interview with a Vampire. I love Anne Rice and have read all of her vampire and witch books. What is your favourite genre and why? Paranormal anything is my favorite, namely vampires, witches, and werewolves. It doesn't have to be romantic, but that is preferable. List your three favourite authors (any genre) and why? Anne Rice because she introduced me to the world of vampires. What do you think makes a writer successful? I think that enjoying being a writer is what makes a writer successful. No, it won't make you rich instantly, but it will be easier for you to write, write, and write more if you enjoy the process. Success will come later. Whta is it that makes you successful as a writer? I don't know that I am a successful writer, but I thoroughly enjoy being a writer... that's the most important thing to me. I also enjoy seeing books selling, but that's a differnt part of success. What are your goals as a writer? My goal as a writer is just to have fun. I want to write as much as I can and leave my mark on the world. I want to tell the stories that are screaming for me to let them out. I want to enjoy the time that I spend doing this. And so far I am! What is the best tip you can give to fellow writers? Network, network, network. That is my top advice for fellow writers. Don't simply write your book and expect people to know what it's about or where to get it. You have to get out there to meet and greet your potential readers. Be an active member of the world, even if it's only on the internet. What do you hope to provide your readers with through your writing? I hope to provide an enjoyable reading experience. I hope to provide an escape from reality, if only for a little while. I hope that my readers are able to feel the same feelings that I had when I created the stories. List your three favourite online writer-resource sites and why (include URLS). One of my favorite writer resources has to be Preditors & Editors at anotherealm.com/prededitors/ If you have published a book, tell us about your publishing success (title, publishing date and company, where it is available to purcahse). I have two books currently available, with a third coming soon. How long did it take you to write your book(s)? My parenting book didn't take very long, but my paranormal romance novels take approximately six months from start to finish. What would you do differently if you could repeat the same publishing experience? Nothing. I've enjoyed the road I've gone down and I wouldn't change a thing. What have you learned about the publishing world? I learned that there are more writers out there than I knew before I began. I never imagined that I would meet so many wonderful people who are writers. I learned that if you let the publishing aspect of writing get you down, you won't enjoy writing. Writing should be about the writer loving their story and not about whether or not you get rejected by dozens of publishing houses. This is your chance to 'Talk Back' to your readers. What would you like to say to them? Hello to all of my readers out there. I'm just a person like you. I just happen to write. What's the one thing that you want them to know about your writing? The one thing that I would want my readers to know about my writing is that it comes from the heart. My stories are like my babies and it's terrifying to send them out into the world for the first time. But, every child has to grow up sometime. :-) |
