An Interview With acVernon MenchanTell us a bit about yourself. What would you like us to know about you? I am a self-published author of three books since January 2006. I am also a reviewer for APOOOBookClub. What are you doing now? (Career? Married? Single? Children? Pets?) I have been married for twenty-eight years with two grown sons. I am a Budget Officer. I read an average of two books a week. What is your favourite food? Crab...all species What is your favourite colour? Black What is your favourite sound? I love the sound of water. Who is your favourite person? What is your favourite place? My home... What is your favourite memory? One of my favourite memories was the first time I held a copy of my work in my hand. What is your favourite article of clothing? A t shirt dress What is your favourite word? Absolutlely... What is your favourite writers' quote and why? What is your most favourite quality about yourself? My ability to adjust to anyplace or situation What is the least favourite quality about yourself? My impatience If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why? Any secluded beach, so I could read and rest What inspires you to write and why? The voices in my head and the people who can't always express themselves What is your favourite book and why? Just Above My Head by James Baldwin...It has so many layers and messages What is your favourite genre and why? I read across genres, but have coined my own writing "Fictionalize Truths" List your three favourite authors (any genre) and why? James Baldwin...He was a master What do you think makes a writer successful? Hard work, belief in self and a small bit of luck... Whta is it that makes you successful as a writer? I seem to have stories people want told and to hear What are your goals as a writer? To reach anyone interested in reading "Fictionalized Truths" What is the best tip you can give to fellow writers? Persevere What do you hope to provide your readers with through your writing? Well told stories that make you, think, smile, cry... Learned more before the first book about the industry and marketing, but since then I would do it the same way as I have done it. This was meant to be my journey What have you learned about the publishing world? It's quite often about the story of the hour. This is your chance to 'Talk Back' to your readers. What would you like to say to them? My work is an expression of love and gratitude to the people I have met in my life. My stories are meant to speak to the "real" in all of us. What's the one thing that you want them to know about your writing? I write from my heart and soul...and would write even if I never sold another book... |
