An Interview With Mihad Ali

Tell us a bit about yourself. What would you like us to know about you?

Haha. To be honest not much. I would like my creations to be judged as they are not taking into consideration anything else other than that. I want others to be influenced by themselves and not by outside factors and I feel that it would be hard if they know things ( good or bad) about me.

What are you doing now? (Career? Married? Single? Children? Pets?)

I am single and always have been. No plans for anything else at the moment.

What is your favourite food?

I have no favorite food. Love many things. No, actually make favorite category of food is junk food.

What is your favourite colour?

It will always be pink, but I also love the color Gold. Colors are a reflection of our mood.

What is your favourite sound?

The ocean, no doubt.

Who is your favourite person?

People that I love. Not just one individual.

What is your favourite place?

Anywhere near the water

What is your favourite memory?

Don't have one yet.

What is your favourite article of clothing?

Again not just one but love skirts and jackets in general.

What is your favourite word?

Love

What is your favourite writers' quote and why?

There are many. Rereading them you get to discover something different. Then again, that is with a lot of things.

What is your most favourite quality about yourself?

Ha. I don't have one.

What is the least favourite quality about yourself?

Ha, Everything, I'm not that great, really!

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Probably the United States to go and visit my mother who is there.

What inspires you to write and why?

Life and all the facets of it. I am not very good at making things up and writing about that.

What is your favourite book and why?

I adore reading biographies. Getting to read about people is fun, sorry, I am boring, LOL. ( Laugh out Loud)

What is your favourite genre and why?

Biography, getting a glimpse into other people I love.

List your three favourite authors (any genre) and why?

Again, just biographies in general. No favorites. You get a glimpse into their lives and how they think, their personas. I love that!

What do you think makes a writer successful?

Determination, perserverance and saying something in a unique way. These can also be applied to other areas.

Whta is it that makes you successful as a writer?

I don't know to be honest with you. The public can determine that.

What are your goals as a writer?

Um, Not sure. I've never really thought about it.

What is the best tip you can give to fellow writers?

Practice. Your style of writing will not come overnight. Do not try to write like other people as I have done. It is a recipe for failure. But you have to try. If that is what you have to do then go ahead.

What do you hope to provide your readers with through your writing?

I hope they question their own lives and hopefully learn, one day, to live and do for themselves and not for anyone else.

List your three favourite online writer-resource sites and why (include URLS).

I just browse the net a lot. There are many great ones out there.

If you have published a book, tell us about your publishing success (title, publishing date and company, where it is available to purcahse).

I have published two so far. Questions,self-published August 2005 and ME also self-published November 2005.

They can buy it at www.lulu.com/mihadali
They also can read it for free by making an account and downloading it.

How long did it take you to write your book(s)?

Well Questions was poetry I had written years before that. It is just many poems from those many years. ME I wrote after Questions came out, so about 2 months.

What would you do differently if you could repeat the same publishing experience?

Nothing. It is hard as a self-publisher but for me, I wouldn't change it for anything.

What have you learned about the publishing world?

In general not self-publishing, it sometimes is not about content. It is about appearances.

This is your chance to 'Talk Back' to your readers. What would you like to say to them?

Be influenced only by you.

What's the one thing that you want them to know about your writing?

Nothing as I said I want them to not be influenced by anything other than my writing, other than what they see on the page. Make it out how you will.
