An Interview With Rosemarie PiemonteTell us a bit about yourself. What would you like us to know about you? I'm a very fun energetic person. I'm always up for a new challenge. I love to write and I believe that passion came out in my first romance novel, Falling Roses. What are you doing now? (Career? Married? Single? Children? Pets?) I work Full-time as a secretary for a fire department in the western suburbs of Chicago. I'm single and looking for a man who will sweep me off my feet. (There's a lot of fish in the sea, and I'm looking for a mammal.) I have two children, three cats, and a rat. What is your favourite food? Cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory. What is your favourite colour? Black, because in order to make black you mix all the colors. What is your favourite sound? The ocean. The sound of the waves coming into shore. Who is your favourite person? I'd have to say Jesus. He's good looking and does miracles. What is your favourite place? Any place that's quiet. And anyplace where I'm surrounded by people who love me and I love them. What is your favourite memory? Christmas. The Christmas that I wanted a Bicycle, a skateboard, and a keyboard. Santa brought me all three. What is your favourite article of clothing? Underwear. It usually is always comfortable. What is your favourite word? Yes. What is your favourite writers' quote and why? "I can't think of one right now, but when I do, I'll write it down." I just made that one up. What is your most favourite quality about yourself? I'm efficient. What is the least favourite quality about yourself? The way I look. (I think most women have that problem.) If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why? Australia. One of my best friends live out there and I haven't seen her for three years. What inspires you to write and why? I have a lot of dreams. Good dreams and nightmares. An American Indian told me once that if I write my nightmares down, I wouldn't have the same dream again. What is your favourite book and why? Finding My Irish By Sharon Shea Bossard. I just finished her book about learning about her Irish heritage and it was very overwhelming. She's a wonderful person as well as an excellent author. What is your favourite genre and why? My bookshelf has so many different genres. I have to say though I love reading romance. Everyone wants to find true love. List your three favourite authors (any genre) and why? Nora Roberts - (Montana Sky) What do you think makes a writer successful? Personal attitude. If I go up to an author and if that author isn't interested in me than I won't purchase his/her book. I feel that you have to be interested in the people who are interested in you. Whta is it that makes you successful as a writer? My personal attitude. As for my book, the storyline of Falling Roses is quite different than other books out there on the market today. What are your goals as a writer? My goals as a writer is not to make money (even though that would be an added bonus) but it really is to tell my story to people. I want people to get lost in a different world. See the movie that I have played over and again in my head. What is the best tip you can give to fellow writers? Research. See what's out there. Network. Meet as many people and authors as you can. What do you hope to provide your readers with through your writing? The best movie in their head that they've ever seen. List your three favourite online writer-resource sites and why (include URLS). www.authorsmarketinggroup.org - I'm the webmaster of this group. An interactive organization for authors in and near the Chicago area. We get together to sell more books. If you have published a book, tell us about your publishing success (title, publishing date and company, where it is available to purcahse). Falling Roses published with Authorhouse in June, 2005. It's available on all Amazon's, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, and Borders Books. Practically all on-line stores. If you walk into a book store and go to a register you can order the book as well. My publisher's website is www.authorhouse.com I have a lot of links on my website k.1asphost.com/fallingroses/ How long did it take you to write your book(s)? It took years. Faithfully though, it took a year and a half before getting it published. What would you do differently if you could repeat the same publishing experience? I did the cover of Falling Roses, since my publisher couldn't find a white rose to place on the cover. I truly wanted something different when it came to roses falling. If I would have paid more, I possibly would have gotten that white rose or an exploding beach house. What have you learned about the publishing world? Marketing your book is when the fun begins. This is your chance to 'Talk Back' to your readers. What would you like to say to them? Thank you for the compliments. I know you all are waiting patiently for Book 2 (Falling Roses: The Years Between.) And it will be out Summer of 2007. Visit my website at k.1asphost.com/fallingroses/ Sign my guest book. Drop me an email at rosemariepiemonte@yahoo.com I'm efficient I'll get back to you the same day. What's the one thing that you want them to know about your writing? Expect the Unexpected. |
