An Interview With Anne LebrechtTell us a bit about yourself. What would you like us to know about you? After a long career as a CFO for a huge corporation I retired. From a hobby of writing I then made it a full time occupation. I have successfully had two novels published, a short story, poetry and several articles. What are you doing now? (Career? Married? Single? Children? Pets?) Presently I am trying to get a third novel published. I then will start on a fourth novel. A book of poetry is now in a process of publication. What is your favourite food? Unfortunately I love food far too much. I love gourmet cooking, and dining out at good restaurants. I enjoy most types of foods when presentation and taste are pleasing. I dislike most fast foods, though I do have a few I eat. What is your favourite colour? I love the color blue. What is your favourite sound? I love Blues,Jazz and most Opera's. I love most classical composers. Who is your favourite person? Hard to name just one. What is your favourite place? The entire city of Montreal. What is your favourite memory? My travels to other places and cities. But my favorite and cherished memories are of my visits to Montreal. What is your favourite article of clothing? I wear tee shirts and pants most of the time. Clothing has never been my thing! What is your favourite word? Compassion. What is your favourite writers' quote and why? Too many to choose. What is your most favourite quality about yourself? Caring about people. What is the least favourite quality about yourself? Asking too many questions. If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why? Montreal. Because I miss it. What inspires you to write and why? Reading the news about the happenings of just ordinary people. What is your favourite book and why? James Joyce "Ulysses" What is your favourite genre and why? Contemporary Literature. List your three favourite authors (any genre) and why? James Joyce. Exceptional talent. What do you think makes a writer successful? side from a good story well written? Luck! Whta is it that makes you successful as a writer? Perserverence. What are your goals as a writer? To have as many readers as possible. What is the best tip you can give to fellow writers? Do not give up. What do you hope to provide your readers with through your writing? Pleasure! Time enjoyed and well spent. List your three favourite online writer-resource sites and why (include URLS). I tend to search and look up the websites of the authors I read. They all have links and helpful hints. If you have published a book, tell us about your publishing success (title, publishing date and company, where it is available to purcahse). All are listed on: How long did it take you to write your book(s)? The first was about one year ( from notes of twenty years) What would you do differently if you could repeat the same publishing experience? Nothing. What have you learned about the publishing world? It is a highly controlled by a handful of big ones. Very competitive. Very manipulative in how it treats authors and how it forces the book chains purchases of their selections. Like most industries it is about "Money." This is your chance to 'Talk Back' to your readers. What would you like to say to them? I keep a page for my readers to send me questions and comments. I answer most by email and some questions that are repeated are answered on my "Authors Answers." What's the one thing that you want them to know about your writing? That it is a fast read and one that should be enjoyable to all. Should provoke a curiosity about some things and answers to others. Novels that are written with the intention to make the reader enjoy reading. I hope they then want to read another book of mine and many other authors. |
